6-Week Hand-Building Course | 15th April | 6-8pm

This 6 week course is suitable for beginners with no previous experience and mixed level participants who want to improve their skills in hand building with clay. Elements of surface decoration and finishing techniques may be integrated into your course, so participants get a rounded view of what is possible. Your teacher will guide and work with you depending on your experience, and challenge you to develop and refine your making skills. Additionally, you will be finishing and glazing your pieces.

What you will have the opportunity to learn or improve on:

• Pinch pot techniques
• Coil building
• Slab construction
• Joining and scoring techniques
• Surface decoration and texture
• Attaching handles and components (if needed)
• Glazing

What’s included:

We will provide all materials throughout the course. All of our students use our buff stoneware clay and have access to a full range of tools, moulds, and glazes.

Good to know!

• Please bring your own apron to each lesson.
• Short nails are much easier to work with, as long nails can make handling clay more challenging.
• Jewellery and watches off!
• Don’t come in your Sunday best — working with clay can be very messy!
• It takes up to 4 weeks for your glazed ceramics to be ready to collect.

All classes are refundable up until 28 days prior to the start of the course. After this we may be able to reschedule your course. PLEASE NOTE: From 14 days prior, your course is non-refundable. We are a small pottery studio and our courses run at capacity. Teachers and materials are organised in advance for the number of booked participants.
